The Little Library
A delightful new addition has come to the Maggie Valley Town Hall Playground — a Little Library, designed just for children.
This small, brightly colored book-sharing box operates on the honor system and invites young readers to “take a book, leave a book”, trade out or take one home to keep, as they play and explore the park.
The Little Library was created and operated by dedicated members of the Maple Grove Methodist Church, where all the books are housed.
Handcrafted by Allen Watts, it stands as a charming and thoughtful gift to the community, encouraging literacy and a love of reading among children.
Dana Smith graciously supplied a variety of age-appropriate books for kids to enjoy. The books are part of a program called Anna’s Books. It is a memorial for Anna Williams. She was the principal at Meadowbrook Elementary School who passed away in 2013. She died after giving birth to her second child. This is a way to pass along her love of learning to children today.
Barb Timmington, Kenny & Susan Baugn and many others will take on the meaningful task of keeping the library stocked on a weekly basis.
This community-driven effort is a wonderful example of how small acts of kindness and collaboration can inspire learning and connection in Maggie Valley. Families are encouraged to stop by, explore the playground, and share in the joy of reading.
